Question : 14 of 74
Marks: +1, -0
The specific heat capacity of a substance AA is 3,800 Jkg−1 K−13,800\,\mathrm{Jkg}^{-1}\,\mathrm{K}^{-1} and that of a substance BB is 400 Jkg−1 K−1400\,\mathrm{Jkg}^{-1}\,\mathrm{K}^{-1} . Which of the two substances is a good conductor of heat? Give a reason for your answer.
Solution:
Substance B is a good conductor of heat. It is because the substance with low specific heat capacity shows a rapid and high rise in temperature.
Thus it is a better conductor of heat than the substance with high specific heat capacity which shows a slow and small rise in temperature.
