Question : 9 of 78
Marks: +1, -0
Find the equation of the line which passes through the point (1, 2, 3)and is parallel to the vector 3i^+2j^−2k^\hat{3i}+\hat{2j}-\hat{2k}.
Solution:
We have a⃗=i^+2j^+3k^\vec{a}= \hat{i}+\hat{2j}+\hat{3k}, b⃗=3i^+2j^−2k^\vec{b}= \hat{3i}+\hat{2j}-\hat{2k}
Vector equation of the line is
a⃗+λb⃗\vec{a}+\lambda\vec{b} =i^+2j^+3k^+λ(3i^+2j^−2k^)= \hat{i}+\hat{2j}+\hat{3k}+\lambda (\hat{3i}+\hat{2j}-\hat{2k})
where λ\lambda is any real number.
