Question : 161 of 271
Marks: +1, -0
x2+4x+1\sqrt{x^2+4x+1}
Solution:
Let I=∫x2+4x+1 dxI=\int\sqrt{x^2+4x+1}\,dx
=∫(x2+4x+4)−3 dx=\int\sqrt{(x^2+4x+4)-3}\,dx
=∫(x+2)2−(3)2 dx=\int\sqrt{(x+2)^2-(\sqrt{3})^2}\,dx
=x+22(x+2)2−(3)2−32log⁡∣(x+2)+(x+2)2−(3)2∣+C=\frac{x+2}{2}\sqrt{(x+2)^2-(\sqrt{3})^2}-\frac{3}{2}\log\left|(x+2)+\sqrt{(x+2)^2-(\sqrt{3})^2}\right|+C
=x+22x2+4x+1−32log⁡∣(x+2)+x2+4x+1∣+C=\frac{x+2}{2}\sqrt{x^2+4x+1}-\frac{3}{2}\log\left|(x+2)+\sqrt{x^2+4x+1}\right|+C
