Question : 43 of 61
Marks: +1, -0
tan x = 3\sqrt{3}
Solution:
A value of x satisfying tanx = 3\sqrt{3} is π3\frac{\pi}{3}
Principal Solution : We know that tan π3\frac{\pi}{3} = 3\sqrt{3} and tan (π+π3)\left(\pi+\frac{\pi}{3}\right) = tan π3\frac{\pi}{3} = 3\sqrt{3}
Thus, tan π3\frac{\pi}{3} = tan 4π3\frac{4\pi}{3} = 3\sqrt{3}
Therefore principal solutions are π3,4π3\frac{\pi}{3},\frac{4\pi}{3}
General Solution : We know that tan π3\frac{\pi}{3} = 3\sqrt{3}
Therefore tanx = 3\sqrt{3} ⇒ tan x = π3\frac{\pi}{3}
⇒ x = nπ + π3\frac{\pi}{3} , n ∊ Z
[Since If tanθ = tanα, then θ = n π + α, n ∈ Z]
