Question : 13 of 22
Marks: +1, -0
Given : N2(g)+3H2(g)\mathrm{N}_{2(g)} + 3\mathrm{H}_{2(g)}2NH3(g)2\mathrm{NH}_{3(g)} ; ΔrH\Delta_r H^{\circ} = –92.4 kJmol1\mathrm{kJ\,mol^{-1}}. What is the standard enthalpy of formation of NH3\mathrm{NH}_3 gas?
Solution:
N2(g)+3H2(g)\mathrm{N}_{2(g)} + 3\mathrm{H}_{2(g)}2NH3(g)2\mathrm{NH}_{3(g)} ; ΔrH\Delta_r H^{\circ} = –92.4 kJmol1\mathrm{kJ\,mol^{-1}}
∴ Standard enthalpy of formation of NH3(g)\mathrm{NH}_{3(g)} = {-92.4}/2$ = - 46.2 kJ/mol
