Question : 2 of 73
Marks: +1, -0
What is Kc for the following equilibrium when the equilibrium concentration of each substance is : [SO2][\mathrm{SO}_2] = 0.60 M, [O2][\mathrm{O}_2] = 0.82 M and [SO3][\mathrm{SO}_3] = 1.90 M?
2O2(g)+2(g)2\mathrm{O}_{2(g)} + {}_{2(g)}2SO3(g)2\mathrm{SO}_{3(g)}
Solution:
2O2(g)+2(g)2\mathrm{O}_{2(g)} + {}_{2(g)}2SO3(g)2\mathrm{SO}_{3(g)}
Applying law of chemical equilibrium,
KCK_C = [SO3]2[SO2]2[O2]\frac{[\mathrm{SO}_3]^2}{[\mathrm{SO}_2]^2[\mathrm{O}_2]} = (1.9)2(0.6)2(0.82)\frac{(1.9)^2}{(0.6)^2(0.82)} = 12.229 Lmol1\mathrm{L\,mol^{-1}}
