Calculate the current drawn by an appliance rated 110 W,220 V110\ \mathrm{W}, 220\ \mathrm{V} when connected across 220 V220\ \mathrm{V} supply.
Solution:  
Given: P=110 W, V=220 V, I=P=110\ \mathrm{W},\ V=220\ \mathrm{V},\ I= ?
We know,     P=VI\;\; P=V I
∴     I=  PV=  110220=  12=0.5 A\therefore\ \;\; I=\;\frac{P}{V}=\;\frac{110}{220}=\;\frac{1}{2}=0.5\ \mathrm{A}
