Derive a relationship between S.I. and C.G.S. unit of work.
Solution:
The S.I. unit of work is joule ( J )
1 joule = 1 N × 1 m
But 1 N = 10 5 dyne
and 1 m = 10 2 cm
∴ 1 joule = 10 5 dyne × 10 2 cm
= 10 7 dyne-cm = 10 7 erg
Thus, 1 joule= 10 7 erg
Thus, 1 joule
