Question : 38 of 78
Marks: +1, -0
SECTION - II
Derive a relationship between S.I. and C.G.S. unit of work.
Solution:
The S.I. unit of work is joule (J)(J) and the C.G.S. unit of work is erg.
1 joule =1N×1m1 \text{ joule } = 1 \mathrm{N} \times 1 \mathrm{m}
 But 1N=105 dyne \text{ But } 1 \mathrm{N} = 10^5 \text{ dyne }
 and 1m=102cm\text{ and } 1 \mathrm{m} = 10^2 \mathrm{cm}
∴1 joule =105 dyne ×102cm\therefore 1 \text{ joule } = 10^5 \text{ dyne } \times 10^2 \mathrm{cm}
=107 dyne-cm =107erg= 10^7 \text{ dyne-cm } = 10^7 \mathrm{erg}
Thus, 1 joule =107erg= 10^7 \mathrm{erg} .
