Question : 4 of 65
Marks: +1, -0
If the power of a motor be 100 KW100\ \mathrm{KW}, at what speed can it raise a load of 50,000 N50,000\ \mathrm{N} ?
Solution:
Given : Power =100 kW=100×1000=105 W=100\ \mathrm{kW}=100\times 1000=10^{5}\ \mathrm{W}.
Load (or Force) =50,000 N=50,000\ \mathrm{N}, Speed == ?
We know,
  Power    =  Force  ×  Average Speed  \;\text{Power}\;\;=\;\text{Force}\;\times\;\text{Average Speed}\;
  Average speed    =  PowerForce=  10550,000\therefore\;\text{Average speed}\;\;=\;\frac{\text{Power}}{\text{Force}}=\;\frac{10^{5}}{50,000}
  =2 ms1\;=2\ \mathrm{ms}^{-1}
