Question : 11 of 70
Marks: +1, -0
A girl of mass 35 kg35\ \text{kg} climbs up from the first floor of a building at a height 4 m4\ \text{m} above the ground to the third floor at a height 12 m12\ \text{m} above the ground. What will be the increase in her gravitational potential energy ? ( g=g= 10 ms−210\ \mathrm{ms}^{-2} ).
Solution:
Gravitational potential energy at Ist floor   =mgh1\;=m g h_1
  =35×10×4=1400 J\;=35 \times 10 \times 4=1400\ \text{J}
Gravitational Potential energy at third floor   =mgh2\;=m g h_2
  =35×10×12=4200 J\;=35 \times 10 \times 12=4200\ \text{J}
Increase in gravitational potential energy
  =4200−1400\;=4200-1400
  =2800 Joule.   \;=2800 \text{ Joule. }\;
