Question : 37 of 88
Marks: +1, -0
Al, K, Mg, Ca (decreasing order of its reactivity)
Solution:
K>Ca>Mg>Al\mathrm{K} > \mathrm{Ca} > \mathrm{Mg} > \mathrm{Al} .
The reactivity of elements depends upon their tendency to lose or gain electrons to complete their outer most shell. On moving left to right in a period reactivity decreases and down the group increases. So Ca\mathrm{Ca} and Mg\mathrm{Mg} both belongs to 2nd2^{\text{nd}} group but have different periods. Mg\mathrm{Mg} is in 3rd3^{\text{rd}} period and Ca\mathrm{Ca} is in 4th4^{\text{th}} period.
