Question : 71 of 86
Marks: +1, -0
Salt PP has light bluish green colour. On heating, it produces a black coloured residue. Salt PP produces brisk effervescence with dil. HCl\mathrm{HCl} and the gas evolved turns lime water milky, but no action with acidified potassium dichromate solution.
Solution:
Salt P=CuCO3/P = \mathrm{CuCO}_3 / Copper carbonate
Copper carbonate is light blue in colour and when heated decomposes to black copper oxide and colourless odourless acidic gas CO2\mathrm{CO}_2 evolved which turns lime water milky but has no effect on K2Cr2O7\mathrm{K}_2\mathrm{Cr}_2\mathrm{O}_7 solution.
