Given : V.D. of Methane =8=8
   Molecular mass   =   V.D.   ×2=8×2=16\;\text{ Molecular mass }\;=\;\text{ V.D. }\; \times 2=8 \times 2=16
If 16gm16 \text{gm} of CH4\mathrm{CH}_4 has a volume
=22.4l   at STP   =22.4 \text{l} \;\text{ at STP }\;
Then 40gm40 \text{gm} of CH4\mathrm{CH}_4 has a volume
  =  22⋅416×40\;=\;\frac{22 \cdot 4}{16} \times 40
  =56l\;=56 \text{l}
