Question : 4 of 36
Marks: +1, -0
An object is placed at a distance of 30 cm30\text{ cm} in front of a convex mirror of focal length 15 cm. Write four characteristics of the image formed by the mirror.
Solution:
Given : u=−30 cm,f=15 cmu=-30\text{ cm}, f=15\text{ cm}.
We know that,   1v+  1u=  1f\;\frac{1}{v}+\;\frac{1}{u}=\;\frac{1}{f}
  1v  =  115+  130=  2+130=  330\;\frac{1}{v}\;=\;\frac{1}{15}+\;\frac{1}{30}=\;\frac{2+1}{30}=\;\frac{3}{30}
v  =10 cmv\;=10\text{ cm}
Characteristics of image :
(i) Image formed is erect.
(ii) Image formed is small in size.
(iii) Image formed is virtual.
(iv) Image is formed at a distance of 10 cm10\text{ cm} behind the mirror between focus and pole.
