Question : 15 of 20
Marks: +1, -0
In the given figure, PA and PB are tangents from external point P to a circle with centre C and Q is any point on the circle. Then the measure of ∠AQB\angle AQB is
Solution:
Tangents and radii are perpendicular at the point of contact.
In quadrilateral CAPB, we have:
∠APB=55∘,∠CAP=∠CBP=90∘\angle APB = 55^{\circ}, \angle CAP = \angle CBP = 90^{\circ}
By angle sum property of quadrilateral:
⇒∠ACB=125∘\Rightarrow \angle ACB = 125^{\circ}
Now, we know that angle subtended at the center is twice the angle subtended at any point on the arc, so we have
∠AQB=12∠ACB=6212∘\angle AQB = \frac{1}{2} \angle ACB = 62\frac{1}{2}^{\circ}
