Gandhiji was opposed to C.F. Andrews helping him in Champaran because he wanted the Indians to be self-dependent and selfreliant in their struggle against injustice. He told him that Indians were strong enough to fight their own battle and had the capability to win it. Therefore, Gandhiji refused his help.
