When electrons drift in a metal from lower to higher potential, does it mean that all the free electrons of the metal are moving in the same direction?

Solution:

No it does not mean that the all the electrons are moving in the same direction as the drift velocity means average velocity. Electrons are accelerating towards higher potential, having collisions and again accelerating towards higher potential.
